Presented in the open air, In Memoriam is an evocative symbol of local, national and international solidarity. Created from 120 NHS blue and white bedsheets, the artwork forms a public space for people to safely contemplate and reflect.
As well as the installation artwork, there were a number of online events that took place as well including community flag making activities. Birmingham Hippodrome and BrumYODO commissioned Birmingham poet Jodi Ann Bickley to write a new poem to commemorate the installation.
In Memoriam in Birmingham is presented by ‘A Matter of Life & Death Festival’ managed by BrumYODO, and Birmingham Hippodrome. The artwork n Birmingham is supported by Birmingham City Council, Aston Hall and funded by Arts Council England and Without Walls. Sponsored by A Natural Undertaking.
